Object Lessons

Swede Albert
We are surrounded by stuff – consumer goods, historical artifacts, impulse purchases. But stuff breaks. It goes out of fashion or becomes obsolete. And it usually comes wrapped in layers of excess packaging. Object Lessons will explore how ordinary items, discards, leftovers, and unearthed treasures can inspire creativity and find new life as art.
The Confluence: Art in Twisp is presenting Object Lessons, a show that will enlighten viewers by exploring our relationship to consumption, waste, and decay. All works in this show incorporate reused or repurposed materials. Those materials include everyday consumer items, industrial equipment and supplies, discoveries from the natural world, and many other repurposed items that the artists find inspiring.
Curator: Robin Doggett, Betsy Fetherston
