Janet Fagan
Janet Fagan with Clarity
Mazama-based artist Janet Fagan has been drawing and painting as long as she can remember. She began work as professional artist right out of college and has never looked back. Spending her life making, exhibiting and teaching art has shaped her belief that anyone can learn to draw and paint. She loves to help others access their abilities to create and express by making safe spaces for experimenting and facilitating next steps as artists are ready for them.
Janet says about her work on exhibit at Casia, Observing the natural world by sitting quietly within it or moving through the landscape on feet, skis or wheels is what inspires my work. I carry back to the studio all of the rich impressions my time in nature leaves with me. The sounds, light, feelings, and life that I remember or record then become my woodblock prints and paintings. I distill these memories into shape, color and value then let my imagination and close looking inform my compositions. What I create is not a photographic depiction, but an experience shared through the lenses of heart, experience and memory. My work is an invitation for you to remember what you love.
