Food for Thought

We invite you to contribute to our exhibit “Food for Thought” at The Confluence. The show will run August 25 - October 3. The Call is open May 1 - June 17.

Food is not only a daily necessity, but it also nourishes our bodies and speaks to our personal identities, traditions, and values. Across cultures and histories, food has served as a powerful symbol—such as in classical still lifes or Pop Art movements like Andy Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup cans—and continues to spark conversation today. Food is also inherently political: how it’s grown, sourced, and consumed invites deeper questions about sustainability, labor, and equity. This exhibition seeks to bring together a diverse range of artworks that explore the many roles food plays in our lives. Submitted artworks may be 2D or 3D, including painting, drawing, mixed media, photography, ceramics, fiber, and sculpture.

Here are the rules.

Number of pieces to submit: up to 4:

Each piece must be:

• Your own original work.

• Available for sale.

• Created in the last 3 years.

• Never previously been shown in Okanogan County.  

• Any Size

• Any medium

• Ready for hanging with appropriate hardware/wire secured to work (works without hanging hardware or not professionally presented will not be hung. No dented or scratched frames unless that is part of the work)

Please Note: The curator(s) have the right to refuse work, even after work is delivered to the gallery if it does not contribute to the direction, cohesiveness, or available space of the show. We are looking for high-quality execution and thoughtful content that contribute to the vision of the show as stated above. 

DEADLINES

By June 17, 2026

• Fill out the online submission form with completed pieces at confluencegallery.wufoo.com/forms/food-for-thought-call-for-art

  • Please note: each piece will need a separate entry

• Email high-quality JPGs (300dpi) of work to exhibits@confluencegallery.org for consideration of use in our promotional materials.

By August 15, 2026

• Completed works to The Confluence

• The Confluence contract completed

• Artist Statement and Bio online submission for public display filled out

August 29, 2026 –EXHIBIT OPENS

• Opening reception 5-7 PM at The Confluence: Art in Twisp

October3, 2026 – EXHIBIT CLOSES

Work will be available for pick up 10 AM – 2pm on Sunday, October 4, and Monday October 5. Please contact The Confluence at creative@confluencegallery.org if you need to make other arrangements beyond those dates and times. All work must be picked up by October 30, 2026, unless further arrangements are made.

The Confluence is a non-profit gallery. All shipping costs to and from the gallery of unsold works are each artist’s responsibility. See The Confluence Shipping Procedures form for details.

• Submissions: Fill out the online submission form at confluencegallery.wufoo.com/forms/food-for-thought-call-for-art/  by June 17.

• Accepted work: Email high-quality JPGs of accepted work or work in progress along with Artist Statement and Bio (word doc or pdf OK), and The Confluence Contract [PDF] up to and including the day of delivery. All works must be at The Confluence approximately one week prior to show opening.

• Shipping: The Confluence is a non-profit gallery. All shipping arrangements and costs to and from the gallery of unsold works are each artist’s responsibility. See The Confluence Shipping Procedures Form [PDF] for details.

• Commissions: The Confluence offers a commission structure of 60/40 to non-members artists and 65/35 to member artists.
