Call to Artists
Main Gallery
Plein Air
We invite you to contribute to our exhibit “Plein Air” at The Confluence. The show will run September 21 - November 6, 2027. The Call is open June 09 - July 28, 2027.
Plein Air painting, French for "out of doors," was a revolutionary approach to painting in the 19th century when artists moved their studio supplies outside. The recent invention of paint in tubes allowed artists to make this transition outside. The Impressionist movement is characterized by plein air because it allowed artists to capture the fleeting moments of light and color in real time. This show embraces and celebrates the rich history of plein air painting and invites artists to submit work completed entirely out of doors or en plein air.
